Arrive Jaipur (JAI) or drive from Delhi (5-6 hrs). Check into a heritage haveli. Afternoon: walk Johari Bazaar for silver jewellery and lehariya. Sunset at the front of Hawa Mahal (the Palace of Winds' 953 jharokha windows are best lit in late afternoon). Dinner at Bar Palladio or Chokhi Dhani folk village.
Early morning to Amer Fort (avoid midday heat). Jeep up to the fort gate (or walk โ elephant rides are discouraged on welfare grounds). Inside: Ganesh Pol, Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), Sukh Mahal, Diwan-i-Aam. Adjoining Jaigarh Fort houses the Jaivana โ the largest wheeled cannon ever made. Lunch. Afternoon: Nahargarh Fort drive for sunset over the city.
Morning: City Palace โ Mubarak Mahal (now a textile museum), Diwan-i-Khas (two silver urns that Madho Singh II took to London, each holding 4,000 litres of Ganga water), Pritam Niwas Chowk (the four seasonal gates). Jantar Mantar UNESCO โ 19 stone astronomical instruments built 1728-1734, including the Vrihat Samrat Yantra (largest stone sundial in the world, accurate to 2 seconds). Afternoon: Albert Hall Museum. Evening: a classical Kathak dance performance.
Morning: drive 15 km to Sanganer or Bagru for a block-printing workshop โ wooden-block stamp your own scarf with natural dyes. Farmhouse lunch. Afternoon: Bapu Bazaar for mojari shoes, Rajasthani puppets, lac jewellery. Transfer to JAI or drive to Delhi for onward connection.
